Officially, the name of the state should be The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, yet coloquially, it is simply referred as the state of Massachusetts.
Located in the New England region of the northeastern America, the state of Massachusetts is the most populous and wealthiest state among the 6 New England states. The state was the second permanent English settlement in North Amerca and many of the towns within the state were actually founded by colonists from England from 1620s to 1630s. Massachusetts was a center of the temperance movement and abolitionist activity before the Civil War. Nowadays, you can still see a lot of historical landmarks and museums within the state.
The neighboring states of Massachusetts is the Roude Island, Connecticut, New York, Vermont and the New Hampshire, while Altantic Ocean is at the east of the state. Fishing was the prime industry for the state, but today the state has evoluted into a leading state in health care, technology, financial services and higher education.
The long coastal line of Massachusetts provides the state great seafood produces especially shellfishes while Southeastern Massachusetts has a large volume of cranberries every year.

The main ariport serving the state is the Logan International Airport in Boston, which is also New England’s largest airport. The other airports serving the state are Bradley International Airtpot, TF Green Airport and Machester-Boston Regional Aiport.
Massachusetts is well served with highways connecting it with other states. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, serving Greater Boston is a main public transportation hub providing public transportations connecting the state and its neighboring states.

Boston
Boston is the state capital of Massachusetts. It is recognized as the unofficial ‘Capital of New England’ contributed by its influence on economic and culture. Boston is one of the oldest cities among the whole United States. Pay a visit to the theatres like Cutler Majestic Theatre, Boston Opera House, and some of the very old churches, like the Old North Church and Trinity Church, which were build in 18th century.
Other big cities are Plymouth, the biggest city among the state; Cambridge, New Bedford, Fall River, Brockton, Lowell, Springfield, Quincy and Worcester, the ‘Innovative City’.
