North Carolina is a southern American State, located on the Atlantic Seaboard. North Carolina is situated next to the state of Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia, and owns the largest population of Native Americans among all states east of Mississippi River.

The state of North Carolina has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet high in the mountain area. Atlantic Ocean has strong influence on the climate of the coastal area, which gives a humid subtropical weather, while the mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate. The coastal region has mild winter and moderate summer, whereas the higher elevations have cooler summer and cold winters. Tornadoes, hurricanes and thunderstorms impact the state regularly, especially in the eastern part of the state.

Thanks to the geographical diversity, North Carolina has a wide range of recreational facilities, from water activities at the various beaches along the coastal area, to hiking, hunting, ballooning, rock climbing etc in the mountainous area. Other than these, there are also 2 regional airports in Ashville and Fayetteville.
The state owns the biggest state-maintained highway system across the nation, so travelling by car is definitely not a problem in North Carolina. Trains serve daily in 17 North Carolina cities on 6 routes, while ferry going to East Coast cities from North Carolina is also available.
